Terms of Service

Effective date: 16 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Nikita Alimpiev, an individual based in Tbilisi, Georgia, who runs 1handshake ("1handshake", "we", "us"), a members-only networking club for people in tech at 1handshake.com and app.1handshake.com (the "Service"). By joining or using the Service you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can join

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You join only through an in-person handshake with an existing member: you take a selfie together and scan their one-time code. There is no waitlist and no other way in.
  • One account per person. Use your real name and your own photo.

2. Your card and content

  • You own what you post: your card, photos, "I need / I can", wall posts and anything else you add ("your content").
  • You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and process your content only to run and improve the Service — for example, to show your card, deliver intros and find matches. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
  • Your visit card is public. It can be viewed by anyone and indexed by search engines and AI assistants, including as an llms.txt file. Don't put anything on it you don't want public.
  • You are responsible for your content and must have the right to post it. Only post selfies and photos of people who agreed to it.

3. Handshakes must be real

The club is built on people actually meeting. A joint selfie must show you and the other person, taken when you met. Members can report a handshake that looks fake. After several reports the selfie is hidden and we review it; we may cancel connections made with fake handshakes and suspend or remove the accounts involved.

4. Rules

Don't:

  • spam members, send bulk or automated intro requests, or use the Service for unsolicited advertising;
  • scrape, copy or export other members' data, or use bots or automated access outside the public cards;
  • sell, share or broker access to your network or to other members' data;
  • harass, threaten, discriminate against, or impersonate anyone;
  • post illegal content, malware, or content that infringes others' rights;
  • try to break, overload or get around the Service's security or limits.

5. Moderation and ending your account

  • We may remove content, hide selfies, cancel connections, or suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put members at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.
  • You can delete your account at any time in your profile. Your personal data is erased as described in the Privacy Policy, and your place in the graph stays as an anonymous 👻 node.

6. Intros, matches and AI

  • 1handshake helps people meet; it doesn't guarantee any intro, reply, job, deal or outcome. Use your own judgement when dealing with other members.
  • Card drafts, transcriptions and matches are made by AI and can be wrong. You see and can edit everything before it is saved.

7. The service and its code

  • The Service is free. We may add, change or remove features, or stop the Service, and will give reasonable notice of major changes when we can.
  • The source code is open under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 at github.com/nikalimp/1handshake. That licence covers the code; these terms cover your use of the Service at 1handshake.com. The name, logo and brand "1handshake" are not licensed for use in other services.

8. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise that it will always be available, error-free or secure, or that other members' information is accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, lost profits or lost data, or for what other members do. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to 100 US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the laws of your country.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell members in the app before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the new terms; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before going to court, please write to us so we can try to resolve the issue. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim there.
